Scriptural Reference

“To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest, his brethren.”

We, the parish of St. Bernadette, believe:

  • Catholic Social Teachings of the Church is a rich treasury of the heart of Christ.  Human beings are social.  Man cannot live without love, and love does not exist in isolation.

  • Every life is sacred, and all people are worthy of respect from conception through natural death.

  • Support of society – in economics and politics, in law and policy directly effects human dignity and the capacity of individuals to grow in community.

  • As followers of Christ, in solidarity with the poor and powerless of society, we offer our words, prayers and actions.

Committee Members:

The Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. It is a central and essential element of our faith and is a call to action founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ.  (USCCB)

“It is not enough to say we are Christians.  We must live the faith, not only with our words, but with our actions.”
